Phone-a-thon
When you receive a call from the University, there is a Richmond student on the other end of the line to convey important University news and to make the case for the Annual Fund—and who better to serve as an ambassador than a student?
Who are the Phone-a-thon callers?
Our student callers are hired by the University. Through their Phone-a-thon experience, student callers develop skills in marketing, public relations and business communications. We teach management and communication skills to our students and help foster what is sure to be a lifelong commitment to philanthropy.
If you receive a call from one of our students, take the opportunity to find out how things are going on campus, reminisce about your favorite memories of Richmond or hear what has changed since you last visited.
When do they call?
Phone-a-thon runs for most of the academic year. Students contact alumni, friends and family Sunday through Thursday evenings from 6–9 p.m. to raise support for the Annual Fund. The Phone-a-thon representatives update alumni records, provide information on what's happening on campus now and answer any questions alumni may have about Richmond.
Do telemarketing laws apply to Phone-a-thon?
No, because the University of Richmond is a non-profit organization. However, anyone who does not wish to receive a call is welcome to let us know by sending us an e-mail or calling (800) 480-4774, ext. 3.
