Letter to our Seniors

Our 2021 seniors,

You should be incredibly proud of all you've done to keep one another safe this fall semester. Even though campus life isn’t quite business as usual, this year will be filled with important milestones to mark your time at Richmond. One of those milestones is the Senior Legacy Campaign – the opportunity for every class member to honor your time at UR, celebrate your class, and make a difference in the lives of the students who will come after you.

Traditionally, the Senior Legacy Campaign is led by a committee of 15-25 seniors who plan events and coordinate outreach to the rest of the class. The goal is to ask every member of the senior class to make a gift to an area of school life. Seniors are encouraged to give to something that has shaped your time at UR, helps others, or is otherwise important to you. Options are as varied as the student experience; you can give to your school, department, club or team; to Bonner, CAPS, First Gen. Programming, Common Ground or OMA; to the Student Emergency Fund, the Career Opportunity Fund, the Thriving and Inclusion Fund or Financial Aid. There are hundreds of ways to designate your gift.

This year we would like to expand the campaign leadership to include many more people and bring in a much wider range of perspectives. We would also like to include people who want to champion a particular fund or campus initiative. Passionate about something? This is a chance to help build awareness and encourage support.

If you are interested in helping with the Senior Legacy Campaign, or have a question, send me a reply. The campaign isn’t about how much is raised. It’s about each senior supporting something they think is important. University leadership pays a great deal of attention to what students and recent graduates choose to support, and that information can help steer their priorities.

When you’re ready to make your gift, it couldn’t be easier. You can give online or through Venmo @SpiderGiving. When giving through Venmo, include your name, class year, and where to direct your gift in the comments. There’s no minimum amount or dollar goal. The most important thing is to take part.

Stay tuned this year for campaign updates, priority highlights, and ways to take part in one of the big milestones of your senior year.
