Annual Giving

"Every Spider, Every Year"

The University of Richmond was built on the generosity of alumni, parents, and friends. Our school would be a far different place — a far lesser place — without this foundation. Each year, loyal Spiders sustain this legacy through annual giving. These gifts are essential to Richmond’s continued momentum. Make Your Annual Gift

Personal Impact

Support what means the most to you at Richmond. Give to the University of Richmond Annual Fund to support the areas of greatest need and student impact. Or designate your gift to the school, department, or program of your choosing.

Either way, your gift will go to work right away to support today’s students and faculty.

Collective Impact

Last year, alumni, parents, and friends contributed more than $49M to the University. More than $610,000 came from gifts of $100 or less.

Each gift to the annual fund equals income from an endowed fund 20 times its size. This means even small gifts have a big impact.

UR Here Giving Day

UR Here Giving Day is a 36-hour fundraising event that brings our entire Spider community — alumni, students, faculty, staff, families, and friends — together to support the University and its students. Everyone is encouraged to support their Richmond passion, increase the impact of their gifts through challenges and matching gifts, and encourage fellow Spiders everywhere to do the same. Remember, no matter where you are, when you support Richmond, #URHere.

Your Participation Matters

An important goal is to increase alumni participation in giving to the University. While many alumni generously support Richmond, less than 25 percent do so in any given year. The entire Spider community benefits when more alumni consistently support Richmond philanthropically. A broad base of support is critical to UR’s long-term sustainability.

Alumni participation in giving is viewed by many as a reflection of alumni support for the University’s mission, or as a measure of alumni satisfaction with their education. Some corporations and foundations consider alumni participation when making grants.

Stocks & Mutual Funds

Gifts of stock or mutual funds can be a smart way to support Richmond. The University will receive the full value of your gift, while you avoid capital gains on those assets.

Student Phonathon

Our team of ambitious student callers connect with alumni and parents of the University throughout the academic year. We look forward to connecting with you about campus updates and keeping you informed on what is happening at the University.

Calls also provide an opportunity for you to support your passion at the University. Our students see the impact first-hand that your gifts have on student experiences and enjoy an opportunity to personally thank you for all that you do to support the University.

Senior Legacy Campaign

The student-led Senior Legacy Campaign asks every member of the senior class to make a gift to the University before graduation, encouraging them to give to something that has shaped their time at UR. Gift designation options are as varied as the student experience. Seniors can give to their school, department, club, or team, to programs like the Bonner Center for Civic Engagement, the Chaplaincy, or Multicultural Affairs, or to student support funds like the Student Emergency Fund, the Career Opportunity Fund, and Financial Aid.
