Planning for a Bright Future

Business alumna’s unrestricted estate gift will support UR’s future needs
As a high school senior, Price Riggs, B’84, was excited to be admitted through early decision at the University of Richmond. However, given UR’s small size, she assumed she might eventually have to transfer to a larger institution for a more well-rounded college experience.
After arriving on campus, she realized she was mistaken.
“I did so many things that I wouldn’t have been able to do at a bigger school,” she said. “I got to play sports, work at the student radio station, join a fraternity as a little sister – all of that and more. I quickly found my community at Richmond.”
Riggs balanced her extracurricular involvement with her academic studies in business management systems and marketing at the Robins School of Business. After graduating, she pursued a career in commercial real estate and earned a master’s degree in business administration from George Mason University.
After more than 35 years working in property and asset management mostly in Washington, D.C., Riggs returned to Richmond, where she now does part-time business consulting.
“I’ve touched every component of the business world working in real estate,” she said. “My broad skill set helped me put all of the pieces together to run a successful practice.”
Riggs has loyally supported her alma mater for many years with gifts to the UR Annual Fund, the Robins School of Business Dean’s Impact Fund, and other areas. In 2023, she decided to make a larger impact by committing a portion of her estate to UR.
“I have remained a dedicated supporter over the years, even at a smaller level, because I feel strongly about UR’s mission and know that every dollar counts,” she said. “Making a planned gift will allow me to continue making a difference long into the future. It’s something that everyone can do, no matter your financial circumstances.”
When realized, Riggs’ unrestricted gift will enable UR to address its most pressing needs, including immediate challenges and emerging institutional priorities. “I have confidence that the University will use the resources wherever they fit best,” she said.
“The gift is a representation of my appreciation for the time that I was at UR, the community that I built, and the meaningful relationships I continue to have today,” she said. “They have meant so much to me through the years.”
